What started out as a mere trickle — a sheriff here, a state there — announcing they would not enforce any restrictive federal gun control legislation, has now become a torrent of lawmen who in support of the Second Amendment.
In addition to the Utah and New Mexico Sheriff’s associations, at least 90 individual county sheriffs have said “no” to Obama’s gun control, according to the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, including Martin County, Fla. Sheriff Bill Snyder.
Some states are also fighting back. Wyoming, Texas, Tennessee and Mississippi are among the growing number that will not enforce federal gun control legislation, with some even threatening to arrest federal agents who attempt to so do, as reported by the New York Times.
The final sentence of the Declaration of Independence reads, “We mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor.” When the signers made that pledge, they were aware they were committing treason against a tyrannical government in defense of liberty. These brave county Sheriffs and state legislatures are doing much the same. We should wish them all Godspeed.
